Prisoner Squats an ideal exercise for increasing strength
I was going through the recent issue of Men's Health magazine and came across this exercise, so decided to share it. Most squats are targeted at exercising the hips, legs, calves and thigh muscles. The prisoner squat is one more in the same list of different types of squats. It derives it's name from the posture of punishment given in jails to prisoners in a kneel down position.
The squat is very effective in challenging one's quadriceps, core, glutes, hamstrings, and calves as well as increasing both upper and lower body strength.
How to do it?
- Stand tall with your body stretched with feet shoulder width apart and both hands clasped behind the back in a position as if you had just been arrested or shown the gun.
- Lower your body by pushing your hips back and bending the knees as far as you can and then slowly push yourself back to the starting position ( as shown in the picture)
- Stick your chest out while doing the entire exercise
